Directions
Step 1
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water (not hot) along with a teaspoon of sugar from the measured amount. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy and activated. This step ensures the buns rise properly and develop a soft texture.
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, salt, and Eka powder. Mix well to evenly distribute the dry ingredients. Add the activated yeast mixture, vegetable oil, and whole eggs. Gradually incorporate lukewarm water as needed and begin mixing until a soft dough forms.
Step 3
Knead and First Rise: Transfer the dough onto a clean surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Step 4
Shape, Proof & Bake: Punch down the risen dough to release excess air. Divide into equal portions and shape into smooth buns. Place them on a greased or lined baking tray, leaving space between each. Cover and allow to proof again for 30–40 minutes until puffy. Brush lightly with egg wash for a golden finish and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15–20 minutes, or until beautifully golden brown.
Cool slightly before serving for perfectly soft and fluffy buns.
