Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Vanila Essence
  • 1/2 cup hot milk + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 room temperature eggs

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt to remove any lumps and to aerate the mixture. This step helps create a lighter and more even texture in the final bake.

Add the sugar and whisk everything together until well combined. Make sure the dry ingredients are evenly distributed before moving to the next step.

Step 2

Prepare the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the room-temperature egg until smooth and slightly pale. Add the vegetable oil and vanilla essence, mixing until fully incorporated and slightly glossy.

Heat the milk until hot (but not boiling), then stir in the butter until completely melted. Gradually pour the warm milk-butter mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously to prevent curdling. Mix until smooth and well combined.

Step 3

Combine the Batter: Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Using a spatula or whisk, gently fold the mixture together until just combined.

Avoid overmixing, as this can make the cake dense and heavy. The batter should be smooth, slightly glossy, and pourable with a soft, flowing consistency.

Step 4

Bake to Perfection: Preheat your oven to 170–180°C (340–350°F). Grease and line your baking pan with parchment paper. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and gently tap the pan on the counter to release any trapped air bubbles.

Bake for 25–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, serve as is or frost as desired.
