Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 large apples

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup full fat milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

Step 1

Prepare the Apples & Dry Ingredients: Peel the apples and remove the cores. Slice them thinly or cut into small cubes, depending on your preferred texture. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk everything together until evenly mixed. This dry base will give the cake a soft yet structured crumb.

Step 2

Prepare the Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth and slightly frothy. Add the vegetable oil and milk, mixing until fully incorporated.

Melt the butter gently and allow it to cool slightly before adding it to the mixture. Stir well until everything is smooth and combined.

Step 3

Combine & Fold in Apples: Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix gently using a spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the texture light and soft.

Fold in the prepared apples evenly throughout the batter. The mixture may appear slightly thick because of the apples — this is completely normal and gives the cake its authentic, homemade texture.

Step 4

Preheat your oven and prepare your baking pan by greasing and lining it if needed. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly.

Bake until the top turns golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The apples will soften beautifully inside, creating a moist and flavorful cake.

Allow it to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm for the most comforting, authentic taste — perfect with tea or a light dusting of sugar on top.
